Hey Jealousy!

One of my pre-teen fantasies has now been fulfilled (Thanks, Reality Bites).  Today Lisa Loeb performed an 11am show in one of the conference rooms of my midtown office.  She whined that it was ”weird” and “early” and I agreed, it was really awkward shuffling into a conference room before you’ve had your second cup of coffee with a bunch of people you’re pretty sure have never heard the words, “you say.”  Watching some of my coworkers apathetically tap their feet made me depressed but when she played “Stay,” I got those same swollen tears in my eyes that I had on Obama night and I immediately missed my stone-washed jeans jacket.  I thought proudly to myself, “one less pilgrimage.”

I Do It Because It Feels Good

Vote today!!!! It’s the best feeling ever!  Better than free Colt 45 or that subsidizing check in the mail from your parents!  Responsibility is such a fresh feeling!

Keggers: A Revelation

This weekend I went to a party that had two kegs - a “kegger.” YES! A full blown mom-and-dad-are-out-of-town-KEGGER! Actually, I’m pretty sure no parents were involved whatsoever, but it sure as hell felt like it as I stood in line, patiently holding my red plastic cup with all the other beer drinkers. Everyone was in really high spirits cause at the end of the line was not some pissy, high-maintenance, eye-rolling bartender but just a free, plentiful keg without a trust fund. Some people indulged their inner frat boy and even did a keg stand! That’s when I had to bring out the camera. To the dismay of the hostesses (and everyone else), the party ended up being busted by the police, but to the delight of people like me- I felt like I was peering through a rabbit hole back into sophomore year of high school as I was being ushered out the door by a man in uniform yelling, ‘Come on! Party’s over! Come on!” As the cops swept through the house, people hid in corners defiantly pounding beers and looking all protective over their one cup of free alcohol. The general crowd behavior at that point had noticeably regressed and 25-year-olds were looking scared that they were going to be carded. As the displaced partiers lurked a block away discussing alternate party back-ups, I thought to myself, nothing like a kegger to make you feel really, really young again…

Seems like everyone is riding the benefit-for-Obama-wave, which is great, I feel like I should have a closet clean-out benefit for his campaign or something.  But tomorrow night, my little music lovers, you will be given yet another chance to donate some paper to Obama at Union Pool.  Lots of bands, like The Sundelles, will be playing for you including my new Brooklyn fav, Work Out.  Cost = donation.  Be there or be republican.

**This image is the first picture that comes up when you enter the word “Wednesday” into the Google Image Search.  I feel like the LOL cat army is in every corner of the web.  I mean, “Wednesday”?!??! Really?  Shouldn’t a calendar image come up or something?
