As you can tell from the photo above, a lot of people came out to Sundays show. Fans of Brooklyn’s own MGMT certainly don’t play around when it comes to waiting in line and some of had been waiting patiently since 8am! British sensations The Ting Tings started thing off with an energetic set that featured not one, not two, but three jump ropers who showed off their skills during the band’s last song. Black Moth Super Rainbow mellowed things out a bit with their psychedelic jams, but they were certainly no less impressive. And of course, MGMT made the people dance, weather be damned. Check out more photos after the jump.

OH, SNAP. Don’t you hate that!? Would it have been better to have not said anything, than to have left you gnawing at your fingernails in anticipation for tomorrow’s big pool schedule announcement?

It’s like when we used to watch Saturday Morning Cartoons, something AWESOME was about to happen, then BLAM:

BUT SERIOUSLY, STAY TUNED! The Hold Steady is coming in June. We just announced MGMT, Black Moth Super Rainbow, and The Ting Tings for July. So who’s next? We know John Denver’s not a possibility - we keep leaving messages with his people, but they just will not get back to us! Aesop Rock? Deerhunter? Fuck Buttons? The Black Lips? Oh, the possibilities…

We’ll make the announcement tomorrow, we promise!

What better way to start off the week than by announcing the line-up for the July 27, 2008 McCarren Park Pool Party!

MGMTBrooklyn’s own MGMT will headline. Watch the uber-psychedelic video for ‘Time to Pretend’ from their first full-length studio album Oracular Spectacular here. Also check out their live performance of the song on last week’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and set your Tivo’s for their next late night appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on June 9. And make sure you’re stone-sobes if you’re going to check out their super-fun website, otherwise you’ll never escape playing with all the colorful squares, or watching the 3-D version of the ‘Time to Pretend’ video on loop.

We also have Pittsburgh’s experimental-electronica and vocodor-enthusiasts Black Moth Super Rainbow, who will be bringing their vintage synths and hopefully copies of the new Zodiac Girls 7” that just came out on Suicide Squeeze. Get it now directly from the band!

And The Ting Tings! They are so awesome. How awesome are they? Just yesterday their new single ‘That’s Not My Name’ knocked Madonna (!!!) out of the #1 spot on the UK singles charts! The new album We Started Nothing will be available for download tomorrow on iTunes (duh, they’re in a new Apple commercial), and the cd will be in stores June 3rd.

Happy Monday!
